4 Expository Documents: Workplace Documents Workplace Documents Definition: Documents used in offices, work sites, etc. that communicate information and provide information to employees. Types: job application, employee manual, health insurance guide, interoffice memorandum, instructions for operating equipment, contract

5 Expository Documents: Consumer Documents Consumer Documents Definition: Texts that provides information about products and services to users Types: A document that shows you product information, instruction manuals, nutritional facts, warranties, and contracts

6 Public Documents Documents that inform the public. Created by governmental, religious, or news-gathering organizations. Examples: Schedule of events, government regulations, safety information.

7 Technical Documents Documents used to explain or establish procedures for using technology. Examples: installation instructions, how-to-instructions

8 Expository Documents: Functional Documents Functional Documents Definition: Any documents prepared for a specific function such as consumer, public, workplace, and technical documents. Provides information, teaches you how to do something Types: Instruction manuals, how to books, cookbooks, product information, information book lets, procedure memos, guides for permits
