1. Allows you to lock a student into an app. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Guided Access Toggle the Guided Access button so it is green. Then set a four digit passcode. When you want to start guided access triple click the home button. Select start in the upper right corner. 2. To disable or enable restrictions on the iPad so students cannot access built in apps or delete apps. Go to Settings  General  Restrictions Enable or Disable restrictions by entering a 4-digit passcode. Toggle any programs that you do not want your student(s) to have access to. Green indicates they have access, white means they do not have access. Restrictions

3. VoiceOver speaks items on the screen to help students with visual impairments hear what they are selecting rather than seeing it. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  VoiceOver Toggle the VoiceOver button and hit OK to accept the changes in gestures. Now in order to activate a selected item they will need to double-tap that item. You can adjust the speaking rate and pitch of the speech. VoiceOver

4. Zoom magnifies the entire screen for students who need the items on the screen larger. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Zoom Toggle the Zoom button Double-tap three fingers to zoom in or out Drag three fingers to move around the screen Double-tap three fingers and drag to zoom in further Zoom

5. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Speech Toggle Speak Selection to have a speak button appear when you select text. You can adjust the speaking rate, and highlight content. Toggle Speak Screen button to use two fingers from the top of the screen to hear the contents of the screen. You can adjust the voice, speaking rate, and highlight content. 6. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility Toggle Invert Colors to change the contrast from white to black Toggle Grayscale to change the colors to gray Vision Support

7. You can increase the size of the text beyond the normal large print to support those students who need larger print. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Larger Text Toggle Larger Accessibility Sizes it will increase the largest font allowed. In addition, all apps that support Dynamic Type will adjust to your preferred reading size below. In Accessibility you can also toggle the Bold Text and make the print bold. Larger Text

8. Allows the user to add Closed Captions or Subtitles when available for that app, connect to their hearing aids directly. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility Under Hearing you can also adjust the volume balance between left and right channels. Hearing Supports

9. Assistive Touch allows a person to use their iPad if they have difficulty accessing the device typically. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Assistive Touch Toggle Assistive Touch in order for a small square with a white circle appear. You can move this square around if need be. When selected it will open to: Notification Center – pulls the notification screen down from top of device Gestures – Number of fingers for different types of swipes. Device- Allows you to adjust the volume, lock screen, rotation, take a screenshot, triple click, multitasking, etc. Favorites – Can add what you want here i.e. pinch Home – Is like the home button and you can single, double, and triple click it Control Center – Brings up the bottom control center screen. 10. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Switch Control Toggle Switch Control to connect to your switch after you link it. Select Switches in order to link your external or internal switch controls. Add new switch, select which source you are using (external, screen, camera), hit or select the switch control, then select the switch action. 11. You can adjust the speed required to Double and Triple-click the Home button. Go to Settings  General  Accessibility  Home-Click Speed You can adjust it to: Default Slow Slowest Home Button Activation

12. Go to Settings  General  Keyboard Toggle off the different features as needed: Auto-Capitalization Auto-Correction Check Spelling Enable Caps Lock Predictive Split Keyboard “.” shortcuts (double tapping the space bar will insert a period followed by a space) Enable Dictation (on iPads 3 and higher) which allows the student to speak into the iPad instead of typing Keyboard

13. Go to Settings  Touch ID & Passcode Touch ID could be used for: iPad Unlock Apple Pay iTunes & App Store Fingerprint ID is only available for the Air 2 and above To put a passcode on the iPad select Turn Passcode On, type in a Simple Passcode (4 digits) twice. 14. Go to the bottom of the iPad and swipe up to open the Control Center. Settings  Control Center You can adjust when you can access this panel. Control Center

15. Go to Settings  Sounds This is where you can adjust the sounds/notifications for your different built in apps. You can also turn Keyboard Clicks off and change the ringer and alerts volume level. Sounds

16. Go to Settings  Display & Brightness Adjust the brightness of the screen Can also adjust the text size and bold your text. Change your keyboard display. Pull up the keyboard, put your fingers between the “G” and “H” keys then pull apart. Display and Brightness

17. You can take a “picture” or screen shot of anything on your iPad. All the pictures included in this presentation were compiled in this way. To take a screen shot hit the Home button and the Power button at the same time. The screen shot you just took will then end up in your photos. Go into your Photo app to access the picture you just took. This allows you to take pictures of what you want your students iPads to look like into presentations and worksheets. Taking a Screen Shot

18. You can set a timer to Exit out of an app if you want to restrict how long a student uses the device. To set up the TIMER go to Clock  Timer Select the music note between start and pause, scroll all the way down to select Stop Playing. Now set how long you want your student to be on the iPad hit start and the program will automatically close out to the entry screen when the time is up, even if you close out of the timer app. If you have a passcode set to get into your iPad the student will not be able to get back in.
