4 Latino students Gaps  Despite major growth in course completion rates, a disparity in pre-transfer foundational and transfer course completion persists  UC transfer No Gap  Recent elimination of significant gaps in access, transfer rates, degree/certific ate completion.

5 Active military and veteran students Gaps  Access  Limited data on degree/certifi cate completion and transfer rates will be addressed as part of BCC’s Student Equity Plan activities No Gaps  Pre-transfer foundational, ESL, and transfer-level course completion

7 Foster Youth BCC will launch a foster youth task force to determine where gaps in outcomes exist and develop a plan to address these gaps by the end of spring semester 2015.

8 Core Activities  Alignment of SEP to PCCD Goals, BCC Goals, SSSP, BSI, and Ed Master Plan  Peralta Scholars PERSIST Program  Partnership with City of Berkeley and BUSD to develop ASI  Appointment of a chief diversity officer All efforts driven by student voices. Students are experts who inform the development of interventions.

9 Peralta Scholars PERSIST Program Reconfiguration of existing BCC initiatives to launch a comprehensive academic success program targeting disadvantaged students from low SES backgrounds to increase recruitment, persistence, and completion.

10 Peralta Scholars PERSIST Program Program elements include: bridge program, orientation, intrusive counseling, early alert, mandatory homework labs, supplemental instruction, professional development, and dedicated staff and faculty. Program benefits will include Peralta Foundation scholarships, PSPP grants to cover all educational expenses and offset other basic living expenses (including book vouchers, campus parking fees, technology, child care costs, and instructional supplies), delivery of SSSP services, and a built-in peer network from the bridge program.

11 Chief Diversity Officer BCC will make equity and diversity central

12 Evaluation Schedule and Process Blended Quantitative and Qualitative Program Evaluation Methodology:  Campus climate survey  Student focus groups and town hall forums  Evaluation of usage and impact of of various student success and support services Begins January 2015.

13 Academic Support Index (ASI) Rather than wait to provide academic supports to students after they fail, employ predictive data analytics through partnerships with LEA to identify students with high levels of risk before they enroll at the College.
