EIGHTH GRADE OPEN HOUSE January 27, 2013

8 classes per year (40 credits) ◦ 4 classes, 80 minutes each per day 1 block each day is for a 40 minute lunch and a 40 minute study hall ◦ Classes rotate every other day!

EXPLORE testing in November 2012 ◦ Results sent home to parents by the end of January 2013 ◦ Used for recommendations and course selections Curriculum guide distributed to students in January ◦ Available on the Lakeland website under Guidance ◦ See p. 3 for a list of the “Graduation Requirements” All core course recommendations are submitted by 8 th grade teachers (English, History, Math, SS, World Language) ◦ If you disagree with a teacher’s recommendation, you will need to appeal this to Tim Conway, Director of Guidance by April 1 st

What do parents need to do to register their child at Lakeland Regional High School? ◦ Discuss course & elective options with your child ◦ Return forms you received in the mailing to the Lakeland Guidance office TODAY If you do not have the forms, they will need to be returned when your child meets with their counselor
