For teachers of schools Current environmental problems and ways to solve them Course Structure № Themes Hours lectures practicals 1 Global social and environmental problems of our time: the problems of population growth in the world, the impact of the greenhouse effect, ozone depletion, acid rain, the increasing amount of waste, noise pollution; international treaties, directives, conventions (Kyoto Protocol and Montreal Protocol, Basel Convention, and others) to regulate global environmental problems. 4 2 Ways to solve regional environmental problems in Ukraine: the current state of the environment in Ukraine and its regions, the reduction of mineral reserves, changes in the structure of land resources, contamination by heavy metals, pesticides and other substances, the reduction and pollution of surface and ground waters, air pollution and change of its composition, the reduction of the diversity of flora and fauna. Ways and means to solve regional environmental problems in Ukraine. 6 3 The peculiarities of solving local environmental problems: the problem of increasing amount of industrial and household waste, the effects of waste impact on the environment; the organization of industrial and household waste treatment; legal, organizational, technical and financial methods to solve the problem; technologies of waste use as a source of alternative energy and raw material. 16 8
