Strategies: Grant to organizations that St. John’s parishioners support and/or are involved with Continued focus on meeting basic needs: Food, Safety, Housing, etc. Align with Millennium Development Goals, Christian Faith Support, and Seniors. Diversify by Geography --- Majority Local, Some Regional, at least 10% International Bang for the Buck: Concentrate on efficient organizations where most of our support goes to the needy and we have greater impact Treasure and Time: Look to do compounding good through some hands-on volunteering Save ~15% in reserve for special needs within this year Save ~20% to offset projected shortfall in 2013 (if there is no Tour de Noel this year) Results: 21 diverse organizations: 15 Local, 3 Regional, 3 International Have historical granting relationship with 15 --- 6 new organizations this year

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight goals to be achieved by 2015 that respond to the world's main development challenges. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations-and signed by 147 heads of state and governments during the UN Millennium Summit in Sept. 2000. The MDGs are: Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women Goal 4: Reduce child mortality Goal 5: Improve maternal health Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability Goal 8: Develop a Global Partnership for Development Additional Goals that St. John’s Outreach has included and focused on: Christian Development and Seniors
