Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service ACAS Trade Union Representatives TSSA

ACAS Provides advice to employers and individual employees Provides mediation between parties at work Provides conciliation between parties in Employment Tribunal cases Provides arbitration between parties in intractable disputes

Trade union representatives Workplace reps - support and advise individual members throughout their problems and negotiate collective terms and conditions Health and safety reps - conduct H&S inspections, provide H&S advice to members and negotiate on collective issues

Trade union representatives Learning reps - advise and support members wishing to access training of any sort Equality reps - a new type of rep that is beginning to be developed and whose role will be to provide advice and support to individual members and negotiate on collective issues

Trade union representatives Workplace, H&S and learning reps all have a legal right to paid time off to conduct their duties and for training in aspects of their role Equality reps do not have a legal right to paid time off to conduct their duties and for training in aspects of their role

TSSA - self organised groups Women in Focus E-Mix Disabilities Working Group Spectrum Future@ currently these groups operate on a relatively informal basis that needs to change to ensure they are able to meet TSSA’s organising needs as well as the individual needs of their constituent members

Equality advisers - UMF funded 10 to be identified, appointed and trained Training to cover general equality legislative provisions and requirements and best practice Advisers will then specialise in one of the equality areas and be available to advise and support reps and organisers in any company They will be expected to continuously refresh their knowledge of their specialist area
