THE PERSON Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in Mveso, In 1939, Mandela enrolled at the University College of Fort Hare, In his second year at Fort Hare, Mandela was elected to the Student Representative Council He was inspired by his ancestors who fought for freedom. He was fighting at school against the rules and he was kicked out.

In 1948 he was elected to African National Congress. He helped people get equal right. Nelson Mandela the first black president of South Africa in 1994, serving until 1999.

He started to dream abut helping the freedom of his people. In 1962, Mandela served 27 years in prison because the government saw like enemy. Then he served a good portion of his life in prison for protests.

He cared for people and he fought for free society. He wanted all people can live together.

THE ISSUE In the 1940s,the Afrikaner National party was able to get a strong majority of people and gain power with the idea of white supremacy. This Nationalist party created the apartheid.

APARTHID This system led to separation between whites and non whites. It was a system of segregation. They didn't have equal right or equal treatment.

LOVE He love his country. He fought for freedom because he love his people.
