3 Preparation Book plane tickets earlier. The winter semester runs from early in January to late of April. Orientation is required. Check baggage policy with your airline Take about a week for processing Canada Visa Prepare US Visa if you wish to travel across border. Complete all course registration and housing before leaving Thailand (Contact an exchange coordinator)

4 Preparation(2) Bring some Thai’s souvenir as a token of appreciation. Buy text book from Thailand, if possible ( York book store sell it around C$100-200) Apply “VOIP discount” for using in Canada as internet phone. It cost around C$15-20. You can call to US and Thailand for free (first 4 months) Check your mobile phone with Canada carrier ( Rogers, Fido, Bell etc.) whether it can be used in Canada (unlocked iPhone should be fine)

5 Preparation(3) Below -15C of temperature  Prepare: Winter coat with hood, Gloves, Water proof shoes, Winter hat.  Recommend to buy most of them in Canada due to cheaper price and more fashionable. (Note: Upon arriving at Canada, boxing day still exist till mid of January. Many deep discounted items are available.) Thai ATM card with international sign (e.g. Plus) to withdraw cash (Baht 100 of Fees, C$1000 of maximum amount per time)

6 Preparation(4) Open chequing account is safer than carry cash with you. Keep Passport, Thai’s ID card or driving license, Confirmation Letter with yourself and copy all of them then keep in other safe place. You cannot bring money more than C$10,000 in to Canada including cash and draft cheque. Taxi from Toronto airport to on-campus apartment (York U.) about C$60 ( they also have flat rate and meter rate you can select what ever cheaper but mostly the are equal if there are normal traffic condition )

7 Academic Winter Semester: Last for 15 weeks (January to April) – 1 st - 6 th : First half of semester – 7 th : Reading week – 8 th : Second half begin + Mid term exam (if any) – 9 th - 13 th : Second half continue – 14 th : Reading week – 15 th : Final exam (if any) Courses will be selected before arriving (contact an exchange coordinator). Be able to change later within time limit.

10 Managing change Very interactive class: require more class participation Case base: have case for every class Work loads - Individual case write up paper (8 pages maximum) note: first and second case usually the easiest - 1 Reflection paper - Change Analysis Group Paper ( Grouped by Prof.) - No Exam

11 International Marketing Asian style class : lecture base Work loads - 2 Group case work(3 pages maximum, 15 min presentation) - Group country analysis presentation - Individual write up paper (11 pages maximum) - No Exam

12 The Art and Science of Leadership Very interactive class: require more class participation Work loads - 3 Leadership journal - Group Mini -Presentations (topic selected by Prof.) - Individual Leadership assessment & development plan - Final Group Project and Presentations - No Exam

13 Accommodation: Housing On and off campus apartment are provided. It is easier to live in on-campus which will be arranged before arriving. 10 -15 min walks from on-campus apt. to Schulich. (no direct bus)

16 Transportation VIVA purple line to T&T supermarket, Walmart, Shopping mall YRT#20 to Vaughan outlet TTC bus to subway to downtown #196, #60, #106  1 hours from Campus to downtown via TTC  ½ hours to neighborhood places via VIVA  C$6 per round trip  Bus hub is at York university (York lane)

17 Grocery and shopping places Downtown (1 hour via TTC): Eaton shopping center, China town, Korean town, and etc. Places around campus (1/2 hour via VIVA): T&T supermarket (Asian supermarket), No frills, Wal-mart, Vaughan Mills (Outlet), etc. Tax is 13%. Tips for any service is about 10-20%. Cooking by yourself is much cheaper than dinning out Buy most stuff you need including clothing during January is much cheaper due to boxing week sale.

25 Before leaving Give 60 days notice to the Graduate Housing Office prior to your departure (if you live at on-campus). Arrange for your phone, internet, cable, etc. to be disconnected (if any). Pay all debts such as rental fees. Transcripts cannot be ordered if you have not paid your student account in full. One official transcript will be mailed to Sasin Take a walk around campus and say goodbye and thank you to everyone who is important to you. And give Thai’s souvenir as a token of appreciation.
