2 History Salem was founded in the winter of 1623- 1624 by the English Name derived from Hebrew In 1790 6th largest city in USA Richest per capita During the Industrial Revolution Salem became a manufacturing town –Tanneries and most notably Parker Brothers Currently Salem is focusing on beginning its “Creative Economy”
