Why you should incorporate video projects? Empowers the students and teachers Allows for student and teacher creativity Students now have access to a variety of video devices: cell phones, iPads, webcams, built in cameras on computers, digital still cameras, and video cameras to record their own video. Once videos have been created they can be used to teach current and future classes.

Before you assign a project Learn the basics – but students catch on quickly and usually will teach each other Learn how to import video Learn how to do basic editing Learn about what resources are available for students at school and at home Video cameras Computer or other electronic devices Software and online resources Plan/create your project and materials

Evaluation Set parameters to guide your students Give time constraints – i.e. PSA-30 sec., Most videos are short - normally 2 or 3 minutes Due date Required Content Create your own rubric (look at existing rubrics to act as a guide but create your own) Develop criteria to be graded Determine the weights of each criteria Develop your scale Share the Rubric with students before you start the project

Planning Have a specific objective and be very precise. Goals-Objectives-Target Audience START with the END in mind. Provide an example if possible. Provide time for brainstorming, research, and writing a script.

Production Decide whether students will be given time at school to produce or whether they are to produce outside of class. Do students need a specific location? i.e. Science lab, quite location to conduct & videotape interviews or demonstrations Can students use animation instead of a video camera?
