2. Born September 15, 1890 Born in Torquay, England Youngest of three children Father died when she was 10. Entered school for the first time at age 16. Began to write and sing.

3. December 24, 1914 - Married Husband – Archie Christie – Naval pilot Agatha worked as a nurse during World War I. Wrote first novel shortly after – The Mysterious Affair at Styles

4. Her mother dies in 1926. Agatha takes death extremely hard and goes “missing”. When found, she claims amnesia. Divorces Archie in 1928. Begins traveling extensively to France and the Middle East

5. September 11,1930 – Married Again Husband – Sir Max Edgar Lucien Mallowan – archaeologist She travels with him while continuing to write.

6. Awards 1955 – Mystery Writers of America Grand Master award 1961 – Honorary degree from Exeter University 1971 – Order of the British Empire, Dame Commander – Britain’s highest honor
