Zoo Keeper – Mrs. Whisler I earned my B.A. Elem. Education – University of Iowa ’84 I earned my Masters of Education – National Louis Univ. ’88 This is my 26 th year of teaching (24 in kindergarten). I came to South Park in 1997. My husband and I live in Deerfield and have 3 boys; ages 19, 20, and 23.

Social Skill Development Second Step Curriculum Unit 1 – Empathy Training Unit 2 - Emotion Management Unit 3 – Problem Solving At home Foster independence and problem solving in your child. Foster responsibility by giving your child appropriate expectations at home. Teach your child self-help skills (zip coat, tie shoes, open snacks, etc)

Language Arts/Literacy Phonemic Awareness: The ability to differentiate and manipulate the sounds in words (rhyming, blending & segmenting) The ability to identify onsets (beginning sounds of words), final, and middle phonemes (sounds) Phonics - Writing Identifying upper and lower case letters Learning to associate the letters with their sounds Writing the letters when "sounding-out“ words phonetically.
