2 Nephi 26 The last time you stumbled over something ? 2 Nephi 26:20–22 What is significant about the phrase “until he bindeth them”? What does this verse teach you about how Satan works?

APPLICATION ASSIGNMENT Imagine you are teaching a friend how to avoid the traps of the devil. Using 2 Nephi 26:20– 22, 32, explain the process by which the devil seeks to bind us.

“Satan is a master at making sin appealing to the undecided.” (Richard G. Scott, Ensign, November 2003, p. 42]

“We will witness increasing evidence of Satan’s power as the kingdom of God grows stronger. In the future the opposition will be both more subtle and more open. It will be masked in greater sophistication and cunning, but it will also be more blatant. We will need greater spirituality to perceive all of the forms of evil and greater strength to resist it. “We all have an inner braking system that will stop us before we follow Satan too far down the wrong road. It is the still, small voice which is within us. But once we have succumbed, the braking system begins to leak brake fluid and our stopping mechanism becomes weak and ineffective.” (James E. Faust, Ensign, November 1987)

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf: “I hope that we welcome and love all of God’s children, including those who might dress, look, speak, or just do things differently. It is not good to make others feel as though they are deficient. Let us lift those around us. Let us extend a welcoming hand. Let us bestow upon our brothers and sisters in the Church a special measure of humanity, compassion, and charity so that they feel, at long last, they have finally found home. … “It seems only right and proper that we extend to others that which we so earnestly desire for ourselves. “I am not suggesting that we accept sin or overlook evil, in our personal life or in the world. Nevertheless, in our zeal, we sometimes confuse sin with sinner, and we condemn too quickly and with too little compassion. … “… Let our hearts and hands be stretched out in compassion toward others, for everyone is walking his or her own difficult path” (“You Are My Hands,” Ensign, May 2010, 68–69).

2 Nephi 26 Priesthood or Priestcraft? Priestcraft Read 2 Nephi 26:29–31 and contrast how priestcraft differs from true priesthood. Priesthood Those engaging in priestcraft set themselves up for a light unto the world. Those who hold the true priesthood hold up Jesus Christ as their light. They seek their own gain. They seek the praise of the world. They build the kingdom of God. They serve humbly, often without recognition.

They labor for Zion. They seek not the welfare of Zion. They would let the laborer in Zion perish. They labor for money.

2 Nephi 26-27 TESTIMONY OF THE BOOK OF MORMON (video) Elder Jeffrey R. Holland: “I testify that one cannot come to full faith in this latter-day work until he or she embraces the divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Lord Jesus Christ… “I ask that my testimony of the Book of Mormon and all that it implies, given today under my own oath and office, be recorded by men on earth and angels in heaven. … I want it absolutely clear when I stand before the judgment bar of God that I declared to the world, in the most straightforward language I could summon, that the Book of Mormon is true, that it came forth the way Joseph said it came forth and was given to bring happiness and hope to the faithful in the travail of the latter days” (“Safety for the Soul,” Ensign, Nov. 2009, 89–90).
