3 Definition of terms Early pregnancy: it is that type of pregnancy which occurs before the age of 18years and could cause a lot of problems. It can equally be unwanted. Unwanted pregnancy: it is an involuntary or unexpected pregnancy which could also cause a lot of problems

4 Condition necessary to have a pregnancy Presence of the female and male genital organ When they both attain puberty Unprotected sexual intercourse When the girl is in her fertile period and the boy starts producing sperms containing matured spermatozoids. When the ovule and the spermatozoid meet. (fecondation)

5 The impact of early pregnancy in the community Use statistics brought by the local doctor 30% of adolescents aged from 16-17years era mothers today in Cameroon

7 Consequences of early pregnancies On the girl: psychologically Difficult delivery because the genital organs and immature and the womb is too small to contain the baby Stitches Fistula haemorrhage Pre eclampsia: oedemas, headache, high blood pressure Caesarean operation Retarded growth STI,HIV/AIDS Secondary sterility Criminal abortion Death

8 Consequences of early pregnancies Educationally - sudden school drop out Socially - Stigmatisation (rejection, isolation and lack of respect) - Forceful marriage (lost of honour) - Increases poverty, expenditure - Creates other needs - End in relationship
