Pre-Reading: Clustering 1. Choose a “nucleus” word: main idea of the text 2. Put the nucleus word at the center of a piece of paper and draw a circle around it. 3. Think of words/ideas/concepts that connect to the nucleus word….ANYTHING you can think of...and write them around the nucleus Draw circles around these new words/phrases Connect to nucleus with a line 4. Add more connections...drawing lines to show which words/ideas/concepts are connected

Levels of Questioning Level One: Recall. You can find the answer in the text (point at it) Level Two: Analysis. You can find the answer by understanding the text, using information from the text (point at two or more areas) Level Three: Synthesis. There can be multiple answers. Socratic Seminar question.
