Studies in all departments result in a degree called Ptychio T.E.I., which entitles their holders to exercise their respective professions or to continue their academic studies either to a relative University Undergraduate Course or on post graduate level in the Greek or foreign University Institutions. The appropriate degree-awarding department provides general supervision for the professional placement. The placement is usually arranged within the territory served by the T.E.I. in question. Students receive payment during the practical placement period.

The first graduates of the department acquired their degree at the end of 1987. The graduates and Degree holders of the Department acquire both specialist scientific and technical knowledge of this part of the Informatics science that concerns system software application. The studies last for seven semesters and are completed with an extra six month period of practical exercise in state or private business companies.

The main specialization of the graduates was until now software and system analysis, programming and implementation. From this academic year a second specialization that of communications and computation systems is offered as a perspective to them.
