DRAMA ON TOUR In 2005 the Year 10 Drama-On-Tour class took their production Revolting Rhymes to Wudinna- a rural community on the west coast of South Australia. The students performed for the community and experienced country life by staying with local families.

MYP DRAMA In 2005 Year 10 Drama students took their group devised production of “Coo-ee, Your Country Calls” to the residents of a local nursing home. THE ARTS IN ACTION COMMUNITY SERVICE

YEAR 12 VISUAL ARTS 2006 Tess Cole was awarded maximum marks for her studio work and had her work selected for the 2007 SSABSA ART SHOW

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING TECHNICAL THEATRE Students come from a range of eastern suburbs schools to study this course at GIHS. The units they study form part of a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Entertainment

Music students at GIHS participate in individual music lessons with visiting instructors

COMPUTER GRAPHICS This subject has grown in popularity, and students can now work in a dedicated Computer Graphics room in the Art Wing

MEDIA STUDIES Michael Richards completed SACE Media Studies in 2003. Since then he has made a name for himself as one of Australia’s leading young animators….. 2003 ATOM: Best Student Animation with Cows With Guns 2003 BUFTA: Best Animation with Stackhat and Craftsman Award for Crazy 2003 SA Young Film Makers Festival: 5 Awards of Excellence 2002 and 2003: South Australian Young Film Maker of the Year 2006: National Finalist in Nescafe Big Break Competition

MEDIA STUDIES 2006 EXTENSION STUDIES In 2006 Sam Deere wrote and produced a movie as the core task for the SACE subject of Extension Studies. Arts teachers Geoff Kemp and Harry Postema played the two key characters in the movie.

MEDIA 2004 FIRST CUT FILM FESTIVAL 2004 Michael Jamieson (left) received 2 awards for his documentary and his animation. Michael Stiggants, James Edmonds and Tom Gaskell (right) received an award for their documentary Depression which has been used by Beyond Blue as a training resource for the community on the issue of depression

VISUAL ART In 2003 Kate Lymn was awarded maximum marks for her studio work. This portrait was selected for the 2004 SSABSA Art Show, and was included on the CD- Rom Artworks Australia: An Exhibition of Student Artwork from Australian High Schools It was also chosen for display at SSABSA for the year following the SSABSA Art Show.
