Performance Evaluation ◦ Process of judging how well an employee is doing on the job. ◦ Helps employers decide if you deserve a raise or a promotion ◦ Helps employees to become better workers ◦ Identifies employees strengths and weaknesses The way your are evaluated differs in each company Usually involves 2 steps ◦ Boss fills out form ◦ Meeting with the boss to discuss it

Protection from discrimination ◦ Equal Employment Opportunity - Stemmed from the “Civil Rights Act of 1964” ◦ Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) – administers these laws ◦ Affirmative Action – is a set of policies and programs designed to correct past discrimination Safe working conditions ◦ Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) ◦ Government agency that enforces standards for safe and healthful working conditions
