HISTORY In 1606 Australia was discovered by the Dutch and Spanish explorers. In 1770 James Cook discovered and named it The New South Wales. The Australia was a British colony and therefore England sent criminals here, but after a while this British colony was overcrowded. In 1901 Australian union with the capital city Canberra was founded.
