Job Objective Job objective: Your employment goal. It identifies which position you are seeking. Job objectives should start with “To” or “Seeking” and should NOT be written as a complete sentence. Examples: To work as a server at a fine dining restaurant To use my education and experience in a challenging position as a computer technician for customer support To be hired as a restaurant cashier or host To obtain full-time employment as a parts department service representative To obtain a full-time position as a clerical assistant with the possibility of advancement Seeking part-time employment as an usher in a movie theater

Education List schools attended List in reverse chronological order (Most recent first) Dates of attendance Name & location of school Curriculum studied Degree or diploma earned [Still attending? List: High School Diploma, (June, 20--)] List any courses that relate to your job objective

Work Experience List all f/t, p/t, summer or volunteer jobs Work of any kind (paid or unpaid); shows responsibility Use reverse chronological order (Most recent first) Include dates of employment, name & location of company, job title

Honors, Achievements, & Other Interests Show off your achievements! Include GPA (3.0 or higher) Participation in sports, music, etc. Special recognition received Community activities (scouting, Red Cross, 4-H, etc.) Eliminate this section if…You don’t have any achievements

References List 3 references who are willing to speak highly of you & your work ethic Include: Name Business title (if any) Name of Company/organization they work for Address, phone number, e-mail address ASK PERMISSION Good references include…teachers, dean, neighbors, coaches, managers, etc.

Résumé Writing Tips, Con’t Contain consistent formatting (spacing, use of bold, italics, & underlining, etc.) Avoid slang & abbreviations (St= Street) Include short phrases (no complete sentences) Do NOT use I, me, my, you, etc. (pronouns)
