Pyramids Pyramids are built of limestone blocks that weigh in a range of 1.5 tons to 9.0 tons! Building these monuments takes a tremendous amount of labor. Imagine transporting these blocks by hand! Pyramid supplies were transported by the Nile River. One of the first pyramids was built in 2600 B.C!

One of the most famous pyramids was pyramid Giza, it’s also know as the Great Pyramid. This pyramid was so big that some people think that it took up to 20 years to build! The pyramid of Mankaure was 215 feet high. It is one of the three major pyramids of Giza. Archeologist think that this pyramid was built for a king and his family. The original sarcophagus was removed from the pyramid and shipped on a boat in 1838. The boat sank and the sarcophagus was never seen again.
4
Another famous pyramid is pyramid Khufu. Khufu was broken into in a unique way. These burglars first started off by with lighting the rock on fire then they put cold vinegar on the stone. In this process the stone was weakened and they pounded on the rock and then broke into the passage ways. This Pyramid was 146 meters tall!
5
Many pyramids have entrances but some were nearly invisible. The Egyptians that built these pyramid tried to trick the robbers in so many ways such as lowering the pharaoh into the pyramid so that there were no passages leading to it, making many fake doors and passage ways, booby traps, and some of the robbers would help build the pyramid so they would know all of the passage ways and trap doors.

The rooms and passages inside of pyramids! The Kings Chamber The Antechamber (the room with all valuables he owned) The Queens Chamber Air Shafts Underground Chambers(usually does not have anything in it purposely to trick robbers) Service corridor
