The health act 2006 is best known for having introduced the ‘ban on smoking in enclosed, public places’. This ban focuses on smoking in places of work, in places that the public access to obtain goods and services, including private clubs and in other places. Give examples of how this relates to our work in a beauty environment in a beauty salon. This relates to our work as the salon is a public area and obtains goods and services. It would also mean that the health treatments offered would be contradicted by people smoking within the area. Explain the consequences of not working in line with the act. If you do not obey this law, you have the possibility of loosing your licence. You will also receive many complaints from neighbours, followed by legal action such as the police who would then involve the courts. It is likely that you will receive a fine and have a criminal record. This means that you will be black listed from opening any other businesses in the future. There are possible further consequences as people who don’t smoke are being willingly objective to breath in the smoke which can effect their health.

SALE OF GOODS ACT 1979 Outline what the act asks us to do. The sale of goods act is an updated version of the sale of goods act 1893 which respects products which have been sold or bought. It applies to most businesses and mostly ownerships. This is to do with the customer, even if it is online which will effect online sales and physical sales. The sale of goods act 1979, is also to do with the agreement between the seller and the consumer and their agreement to trade money for goods. An agreement may have guidelines which they have to follow by. For example, the website may say it will be sent within the next working day meaning that the seller must post their item within the next working day. Give examples of how this relates to our work in a beauty environment in a beauty salon. A beauty salon sells a lot of products which are also used during treatments. This means that this law is applied throughout the business. Salons may have their own selling area on their own website where you can buy from. Explain the consequences of not working in line with the act. If you do not follow the guidelines and agreement, then there is a likelihood that you will loose customers and money.
