2 Food Innovation Center Ohio State University New Center to Focus On Global Food Concerns Our center of food innovation is awarded $3.75 Million. Expertise of 80 faculty members from 12 colleges.

3 Food Innovation at the Ohio State University In 1810 Nicholas Appert was given a prize of 12,000 francs by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. This tin canister of food made in 1824 is still microbiologically safe to eat. Food innovation was needed to fuel the Napoleonic wars- more troops died of disease and starvation than by combat 1810 - 2010

Viruses Viruses may cause 70% of worldwide food illness– OSU OSU may be the only to study viral transmission thru water, environment and food.
