New Changes to General Skilled Migration In July 2012 – New Point system for General Skilled Migration will be imposed. Importance for Higher education, higher experience are the highlights of the new migration program English proficiency is given high priority – higher IELTS scores are given the more points. Advantage of New Skilled Migration Changes: Pass mark in points test = 60 points. IELTS is valid for – 3 years (At the time of ‘invitation to apply’ form EOI). Almost any skill can qualify with the extensive list in CSOL – for State Sponsored migration. No ‘threshold’ employment requirement – people without work experience also qualify for migration. NO fee for lodging EOI. - ONLY e-lodgement. Please note changes may again occur in January 2013. Education Overseas Academy

Threshold Criteria: Age : - Must be under 50 years at the time of approval of EOI Application from July 2012 Skill : - Must have a skill in ‘Designated Skill Occupation’, from the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) for either from Schedule 1 or for Regional Sponsored from Schedule 2 Consolidated Skilled Occupation List [CSOL]. English:- Must have at least ‘Competent English’ – having at least a score of 6 in ALL the four components of IELTS test – taken within 36 months at the time of approval of EOI. Some may need 7 bands IELTS or even 8 Education Overseas Academy

Basic Requirements Apart from meeting the Threshold criteria must be able to meet the following requirements – to satisfy the ‘Basic Requirements’. Must have ‘Post-Secondary’ qualifications (such as Degree / Trade certificate) – AND your skill MUST be assessed by a relevant authority in Australia – as suitable for your nominated occupation. English Test: Must have had a valid IELTS test score of 6 bands in each component or the OET equivalent. Although experience is now NOT a basic requirement, it is till required to claim points and also for skills assessment. Education Overseas Academy

Application Procedure Three distinguished steps in the application process as follows: Skills Assessment : Before lodging the General Skilled Migration application, your skills for your nominated occupation must be assessed by the relevant assessing authority. There is a charge for this assessment, which to be paid to the authority. As on-line applications are made credit card is required. Lodging the Expression of Interest [EOI]: On having valid skills assessment, minimum English proficiency and 60 points, can lodge the EOI with DIAC – only by online, no DIAC fee. Final Visa submission: Once DIAC selects the application from EOI based on highest point score or state sponsorship, DIAV makes an “Invitation to Apply” for final visa. Within 60 days of receiving the invitation to apply, all documents in support of the application and the visa fee to be submitted to DIAC – by online. Education Overseas Academy

Skill Select On filing EOI – will receive confirmation and number Ranked – according to ‘points’ at the time of submission. Select from the Skill select – according to points in ‘periodic’ basis (monthly?) For occupation group – occupation ‘ceiling’ may apply for each round of invitations. Invitation valid for 60 days to make final visa application. If invitation expires, still remain in Skill Select. Education Overseas Academy

Points Test Points are awarded for: Qualification (No points are awarded for Skills Assessment) Age English Ability Specific Work Experience (Must be in same or ‘closely related’) Australian Qualification Regional Australia – Study and residence State / Territory Sponsorship points Spouse Skills Relationship [for Subclass 489 only] Bonus points for Australian Work Experience Fluency in one of Australia’s community language. Skill The occupation nominated should be from the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). If the nominated occupation is in ‘ Schedule 1 ’ than eligible for direct PR, Relative sponsor and also Regional/State sponsor (if applicable). If the nominated occupation is in ‘ Schedule 2 ’ [CSOL] than eligible for State sponsored (Subclass 489) visa only – subject to nominated by the state. If not found in either Schedule 1 [SOL] or Schedule 2 [CSOL], - Cannot apply for General Skilled migration Education Overseas Academy

Specific Work Experience At the time of ‘invitation to apply’ form EOI: MUST have worked in the ‘Nominated Occupation’ or a ‘Closely related’ occupation [20 hours a week]. Australian Qualification Applicants with Australian qualification have greater chance of employment in Australia. 5 Points: Have completed 2 years FULL-Time study towards one or more Australian Degree, Diploma or Trade qualification while in Australia – in a field relevant to the Nominated Occupation (With logical progression). Regional Australia – Study and Residence 5 Points: Have lived and studied for at least 2 years in one or more areas in regional Australia or low population growth metropolitan areas. Education Overseas Academy

State / Territory Sponsorship 5 Points: If sponsored by an authorized State or Territory GOVERNMENT agency for the Skilled – Nominated (Subclass 190) 10 Points: If sponsored by an authorized State or Territory GOVERNMENT agency for the Skilled – Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 489). Requirements for State Sponsorship No confirmation has received, probably no document required – details still awaited. Need to show funds Cash assets of minimum A$25,000 or more and total assets of A$35,000 or more For each additional person A$10,000 to A$15,000 may be required to he shown. Partner Skills Qualifications 5 Points: If spouse is able to satisfy basic requirements [Age, English language ability, Qualification and Skills Assessment from relevant assessing authority an occupation] Question ? Australia’s Community language Fluency 5 Points: For Fluency in one of Australia’s community languages. Education Overseas Academy

Australia’s Community Languages The language must be on the list of community languages. Pass the test in the community language conducted by National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters [NATTI] – can be taken in overseas locations as well. The List of Community Languages include: Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu and French besides various other languages. Education Overseas Academy

Relative’s Point for ‘Regional Sponsored’ (Subclass 489, Provisional) [This is the only visa relative can sponsor] 10 Points: If have a relative living in a Designated Area for 1 year and is willing to sponsor. The relative must be: Child / Parent / Brother / Sister / Uncle / Aunt / Niece / Nephew / Grand Parent / First Cousin. Education Overseas Academy

Health and Character. Applicant and the family members included in the application need to meet the health standards designed to protect Australia from costs related to health. Will be asked to undertake an examination by a doctor selected by Australian Authorities. To enter Australia applicants must be of good character. Will be asked to provide Police Clearance Certificates for each country of residence for 12 months or over in the last 10 years. Education Overseas Academy
