1 What am I? Cell Structure and Function Review

2 What am I? I modify proteins & lipids.
I am a stack of flattened membranes. I send packages (vesicles) through (or out of) the cell. Answer I am the Golgi apparatus.

3 What am I? I am separately enclosed in my own membrane.
Some examples of me are Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, vacuoles, mitochondria, chloroplasts. Answer I am a cell organelle.

4 What am I? I make up plants, animals, fungi, and protists.
I have many different types of membrane-bound organelles. I have a nucleus which protects my chromosomes. Answer I am a eukaryotic cell.

5 What am I? Folds of my membranes are used to package & modify proteins made by ribosomes. They also make lipids I have 2 types. "Rough" - which is usually near nucleus and covered with ribosomes giving it its "rough" appearance. "Smooth" - which is usually away from the nucleus Answer I am endoplasmic reticulum.

6 What am I? I am very small. I was the original living inhabitant of Earth. I do not have a nucleus. I do not have membrane-bound organelles. Examples of me include eubacteria and archaebacteria I have a single strand of circular "naked" DNA Answer I am a Prokaryotic cell.

7 What am I? I contain DNA packaged in structures called chromosomes.
I control most cell processes. I contain a nucleolus. I am surrounded by a nuclear envelope. Answer I am the Nucleus.

8 What level of organization am I?
I am made up of cells that are similar in structure and function. The cells that make me up work together to perform a specific activity. Humans have 4 basic types: connective, epithelial, muscle, and nerve. Answer I am tissue.

9 What am I? I am the living material between the nucleus and the cell membrane I contain other structures. Answer I am cytoplasm.

10 What environment am I? Answer Hypertonic

11 What Am I? I provide support and protection for plants, fungi, and other cells. I am made of cellulose or chitin. Answer I am the cell wall.

12 What level of organization am I?
I can serve a specific function within the organism. I can be part of a living thing. I can be a complete living thing. I am the basic unit of structure and function in living things. Answer I am a cell.

13 What am I? Answer I am a eukaryotic cell.

14 What am I? I am NOT membrane-bound. I am found in prokaryotes.
I am granular in appearance. Often I am found on "rough" endoplasmic reticulum. I manufacture proteins. Answer I am Ribosomes.

15 What am I? I digest food particles. I destroy worn-out organelles.
I destroy worn-out cells. I contain a powerful digestive enzyme. Answer I am a lysosome.

16 What am I? Answer Diffusion

17 What am I? I am sometimes called the "powerhouse of the cell“.
I generate chemical energy by breaking down glucose. I am the site of cellular respiration. Answer I am the mitochondria.

18 What am I? I am the site of photosynthesis.
I contain chlorophyll - a green pigment I am found in plant cells and some protists. Answer I am a chloroplast.

19 What level of organization am I?
I represent the entire living thing. I can carry out all basic life processes such as take in materials, release energy from food, release wastes, grow, respond to the environment, and reproduce. I am usually made up of organ systems. I can made up of only one cell such as bacteria or protist. Answer I am an organism.

20 What am I? Answer I am a Prokaryotic cell

21 What am I? Diffusion and osmosis are examples of me.
I am the movement of molecules from areas of greater concentration to areas of lesser concentration that occur WITHOUT the use of energy. Answer Passive Transport

22 What am I? I occur in some prokaryotes, protists & animals. Do not occur with fungi and plants I serve as construction/ organization points for cellular microtubules I organize and transfer chromosomes and other organelles during meiosis & mitosis I am tube-like structures that are usually at right angles to each other. Answer I am the centrioles.

23 What am I? I occur only in water.
I am the diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane. Answer I am osmosis.

24 What level of organization am I?
I am made of groups of two or more organs that work together to perform a specific function for the organism. The Human body has 11 of me - circulatory, digestive, endocrine, excretory (urinary), immune (lymphatic), integumentary, muscular, nervous, reproductive, respiratory, and skeletal. Answer I am an organ system.

25 What environment am I? Answer Isotonic Cell

26 What am I? I am a type of transport.
I am movement of molecules from a less crowded to a more crowded area. I need energy. Answer I am active transport.

27 What level of organization am I?
I can serve a specific function within the organism I am the basic unit of structure and function in living things. I can be part of a living thing. I can be a complete living thing. Answer I am a cell.

28 What level of organization am I?
I am made up of tissues that work together to perform a specific activity. I could be a heart, a brain, skin, or lungs. Answer I am an organ.

29 What am I? Plant cells have a large one of me.
I provide turgor pressure to maintain plant cell structure. I can store water, lipid, waste, and food. Answer I am a vacuole

30 What environment am I? Answer Hypotonic

31 What am I? Cells are the basic units of life.
All living things are made of cells. All cells are produced by existing cells. Answer I am the Cell Theory.

32 What am I? This is the last slide. Answer I am THE END.
