Notes: Prokaryotes vs. Eukaryotes From Chapter 4 in your book.
2
Standards I can differentiate between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
3
All living cells - two groups Prokaryotes: ●Archaea ●Bacteria Eukaryotes: ●Protists ●Animals ●Plants
4
Characteristics Prokaryotes: ●No membrane-bound organelles ●Unicellular organisms ●Circular DNA attached to cell membrane ●Reproduce through Binary Fission ●Cells small - usually less that 2 µm ●Most have cell wall Eukaryotes: ●Has membrane-bound organelles ●Unicellular & Multicellular ●DNA in strands in nucleus ●Reproduce through mitosis ●Cells larger than 2 µm (micrometers) ●Most have no cell wall (except plants)
5
Can you? With your group list three differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes without looking at your notes? Draw an illustration of those three on the dry erase boards.
