GIS, SPACE TECHNOLOGY AND ICT FACILITATING DATA ACQUISITION ON ALMOST REAL-TIME MODE GIVES OPPORTUNITY FOR JUDICIOUS DECISION MAKING AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNANCE REDUCTION IN REDUNDANCY AND TIME OVERRUNS FACILITATING OPTIMUM UTILIZATION OF THE SCARCE RESOURCES. GENESIS SCENARIO-I
4
PLANNING PROCESS UNDERGONE DRASTIC CHANGE IN RECENT YEARS DECENTRALIZED PARTICIPATORY DECISION-MAKING PROVING SUSTAINABILITY NEW METHODOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGY FACILITATES DECISION-MAKING, ACCESSIBILITY TO A COMPREHENSIVE DATA BASE ON EMPLOYMENT GENERATION, WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT, LAND RECORDS, TOPOGRAPHY, RESOURCES, SETTLEMENT PATTERNS AND INFRASTRUCTURE SCENARIO-II

SPATIAL TECHNOLOGIES GENERATING TIMELY AND RELIABLE INFORMATION FOR PLANNING AND DECISION- MAKING. USE OF GIS AT MICRO ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT FOR PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION GAINING MOMENTUM NAMELY IN MGNREGA, WATERSHED, AGRICULTURE, DRINKING WATER, LAND REVENUE ETC. PLANNING REQUIRES ASSOCIATION AND INTEGRATION OF VARIOUS ACTIVITIES WITH SPATIAL (GEO- REFERENCED) AND NON-SPATIAL CHARACTERISTICS. GIS BASED APPROACHES TO FACILITY PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT GAINED PROMINENCE AS IT OFFERS RATIONAL, EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS. SCENARIO-III
