Archaebacteria Unicellular: made of one cell Prokaryotes: very simple cells that do not have a nucleus and other organelles. Some have a cell wall. Heterotrophic and Photosynthetic

Archaebacteria Reproduce Asexually: Bacteria reproduce by splitting themselves in half in a process called BINARY FISSION.

Archaebacteria Live in extreme environments 3.5 billion years old Methanogens –Anaerobic – Make Methane – Found in – sewage treatment plants, digestive tract of ruminant, bogs Halophiles –Live in high salt concentration (Hot Springs) Thermophiles –Heat Loving – Chemosynthetic hot springs, hydrothermal vents

Eubacteria Eubacteria live everywhere: air, water, soil and skin! Prokaryotic; single celled Some bacteria are photosynthetic, others are heterotrophic.

Protista mostly unicellular, some are multicellular (algae) can be heterotrophic or autotrophic most live in water (though some live in moist soil or even the human body) ALL are eukaryotic (have a nucleus) A protist is any organism that is not a plant, animal, bacteria or fungus

Fungi Fungi are eukaryotic organisms. Reproduction in fungi is both by sexual and asexual means. Fungi are heterotrophic organisms.

Plantae Plants obtain their energy from the sun through photosynthesis. Plants reproduce both sexually and asexually. Plants are eukaryotic, chlorophyll containing organisms. Do not rely on other organisms for food.

Animalia Animals are eukaryotic, multicellular and heterotrophic organisms. They have multiple cells with mitochondria and they depend on other organisms for food. Animals are made up of many organ systems.
