2. High School Expectations  Attendance is CRUCIAL! Driver’s Education (must be in class minimum of 30 hours)  Completing make-up work  Working hard the ENTIRE school year  No study halls – Students need to prepare for an increased workload  Students need to earn a minimum of 6 credits per year is order to graduate with their class (2019).

3. High School Opportunities  Athletics Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field, Softball, Baseball, Soccer, Scholastic Bowl, Cheerleading  Extra-curricular Activities Student Council, Prom & Homecoming Committees, National Honor Society, FFA, Musical, Madrigals  Volunteering is important

4. Graduation Requirements  4 credits Physical Education (unless waiver is in place JR/SR year)  4 credits English (includes 1 year of writing intensive coursework)  3 credits Math (one must be Algebra, one must contain Geometry content) (Class of 2018 and beyond - 3 credits of Math (Integrated Math I, Integrated Math II, Integrated Math III)  2 ½ credits History (including 1 year American History, ½ year Government, 1 year elective)  2 credits Science (one must be a biological science, one must be a physical science)  1 credit Liberal Art credit (i.e. foreign language, art, music, vocational education)  ½ credit Computer Applications (requirement beginning with Class of 2018)  ½ credit Career Exploration (requirement beginning with Class of 2018)  ¼ credit Driver’s Education  ½ credit Health  ¼ credit Consumer Education 18 ½ credits General Requirements + 5 ½ credits Electives 24 credits to Graduate

CACC Information  Capital Area Career Center Juniors and Seniors only  Ag Mechanics & Industrial Tech, Building Trades, Collision Repair, Culinary Arts, EMS (Senior only), Graphic Arts, Law Enforcement, Radio/TV, Auto Tech & Servicing, CISCO Networking, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Care & Education, Fire Science, Health Occupations, Photography, Welding Students must meet requirements May earn college credit in most programs

6. High School Assessments  MAP Testing These scores are used when determining Honors Level placement  PARCC  ACT Should be taken during Junior year

7. Registration Form STEP 1 - REQUIRED STEP 2 - ELECTIVES STEP 3 - SIGNATURE Math and Science recommendations were highlighted on student forms If your student is eligible for Driver’s Education next year, it will be indicated in the box located in the lower right corner. Be sure to include these classes in your final total credits. If your student is NOT eligible they will take Computer Apps and Career Exploration classes next year. 02/02/2015

8. Semester Exams & Credits  High School students take Semester Exams at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.  Semester Exams count as 20% of the total final grade Quarter 1 Grade = 40% Quarter 2 Grade = 40% Semester Exam = 20%

9. Final Semester Grade Examples Student A – C Q1; D Q2; B on Semester Exam = C for Final Grade Student B – F Q1; D Q2; D on Semester Exam = Failed Course Student C – A Q1; A Q2; F on Semester Exam = B for Final Grade Final Grades go on the student’s transcript and become part of their permanent record.

10. Honors Level Courses  Regular Weight Classes (NON-WEIGHTED) A – 4; B – 3; C – 2; D – 1  Honors Weight Classes (WEIGHTED) A – 5; B – 4; C – 3; D – 2 Honors English 3 & 4, Spanish 3 & 4, Calculus, Honors Int. Math 2 & 3, Chemistry, Human Anatomy, Physics, Zoology, Honors American History

12. College – What should we know? If your student is considering attending college after high school, you should know that many colleges have higher admission standards and that the Tri-City High School Graduation Requirements meet Illinois State Board of Education Standards and not necessarily all college admission requirements. Below are suggested requirements for college-bound students: 4 years English 3-4 years Science (laboratory sciences preferred) 4 years Math 2-3 years Foreign Language 3 years History
