2 Graduate of Miramonte High School, in Northern California BA from UCLA, Masters in Education, and California Social Studies Teaching Credential, Masters in PE / Sports Psychology by 2009 school year Walked on in both Football and Baseball at UCLA Earned a starting position in Baseball, played in College World Series in 1997 Masters in Education – Currently completing Masters in Sports Psychology Played two years of Independent Minor League Baseball Learned from some of the best (Coaches; Gary Adams, Tim Leary, Jack Clark, Dick Schofield, and teammates; Dave Roberts, Troy Glaus, Eric Byrnes, Chase Utley, and Garrett Atkins) 10 years of coaching experience, 6 years experience as a history teacher, and football and baseball coach In 2008 hitting and outfield coach at Harbor Junior College Coach SB Foresters vs. Cuban National Team, Havana Cuba Head Coach, Redondo Union High, 2009

3 MIRA COSTA BASEBALL MISSION STATEMENT Mira Costa Baseball is dedicated to developing well-rounded young men who will be successful in life. We will play the game with honor and integrity and always respect our opponents. We realize that we are students first and will put an emphasis on academic success. As Mustangs we believe that there are no shortcuts to success and no team will out work or out prepare us.

5 My Philosophy - School comes first. All of these student athletes are here for an diploma and unfortunately most of them will never play college or professional baseball. My plan to get them a good education: 1. Weekly progress reports turned in to coaches 2. Mandatory study hall for those in danger 3. Academic code of conduct 4. Open communication with teachers and counselors Academics

6 Quality People and Student Athletes - If you practice and train right, the wins will come. As a team we will: 1. Set Goals (team / individual) 2. Do weight training (discipline / Kevin Yoxall) 3. Condition as a Team 4. Help in the community (Camps with Little League) 5. Communicate (team / ind. meetings with parents) 6. Work to accommodate other Mira Costa coaches / programs Team Building

8 Keeping the names of Jon Wilheit and Henry Pearson alive will be a large part of team building. They were both the types of players and young men that our teams should look up to.

11 What Can You Expect From me? I have been developing my plan for a baseball program for 10 years and I will pour my heart into Mira Costa baseball. By developing quality student athletes, we will take this program from good to great. I will do everything I can to help Mira Costa baseball players get to the next level.
