Summer Update After a hiatus through July and August, we are again offering our Association Update. Remember, this Update is intended for distribution and presentation at meetings of your association. Use it as a handout and follow the speaking notes provided to bring the content to life for your meetings. The Association Update is published during the first week of each month. For previous Updates, view “Monthly Reports” at www.supplychaincanada.org/en/annual-reports.www.supplychaincanada.org/en/annual-reports Transformation of the Sector Council Program On July 7, 2011, HRSDC announced major changes to the Sector Council Program based on the Federal Government’s strategic review of all programs, and the decision to move forward with plans to reduce the size of the federal debt. As a result, all sector councils will have their Core Infrastructure Funding eliminated effective March 31, 2013, and project funding will be provided through a new Call For Proposals process that will be developed during the fall. The overall impact of this transformation will be a reduction from $70 million annually for the former program to $30 million following the transformation. The CSCSC Board, through the work of the Executive Committee, is developing a plan to transform the CSCSC to meet these new realities and the impact of a loss of infrastructure funding of $500,000 annually after 2013. The Council remains a going concern, delivering value through its provision of products and services, aligned with its mandate, and respectful of its core value as a meeting place for all stakeholders. Transformation of the Council will be the subject of the next meeting of the Board, scheduled for Monday, October 17, from 1-5 p.m. EDT. For further details, contact mstefanish@supplychaincanada.org or call the office. mstefanish@supplychaincanada.org We Need YOUR Help! Our Outreach Project is nearing completion, and Lorraine Chambers will be leaving at the end of November. Over the next several months, we would like to have her make as many group presentations to employers as possible, to connect them with our range of products and services. Her overview is perfect for Board meetings or Chapter meetings of your associations. Please call Lorraine at the Council office or email lchambers@supplychaincanada.org to schedule a presentation. lchambers@supplychaincanada.org For further information on any of the above, visit www.supplychaincanada.org, contact info@supplychaincanada.org or call 905-897-1100 / 1-866-616-3468www.supplychaincanada.orginfo@supplychaincanada.org Mission Statement "The Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council brings together partners in the sector to develop solutions to the human resource challenges faced by stakeholders.
