‘m’ not’ muh’, ’s’ not ‘suh’, so that
your child will be able to blend the sounds into words more easily.

Not all words are nice and easy to sound out but we highlight these to the children so that they learn other ways of ‘reading’ them.
• Green words = regular sand, hat, much
• Red words = your, was, said, no, go

We have to just ‘learn’ red words! me

Children are put into groups depending on where they are with learning their letter sounds and their ability to blend the sounds they know into words The more they practice the better they will get!

How can you help?
•Make sure your child is in school on time!! Read Write Inc starts at 9.00am sharp and if your child is late they will miss important parts of the lesson!
•Only keep your child at home if they are really sick! When they are off of school they miss important sessions
•Your child will bring home a variety of books – Please read with them as often as possible. If they are just learning to read words then use the pictures and talk about what they see
•If you would like to help your child with their sounds and you are not sure of the correct sound you can hear all of the sounds pronounced correctly on YouTube
