God’s Word is Sure! God’s contention that He alone is GOD is partly based on His power to tell the end from the beginning. “I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of My mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.” Isa. 48:3 “I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee.” Isa. 48:5

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.” John 14:29 “And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.” John 14:29

The prophecy of the trumpets played a major role in the great religious awakening of the 19th century in that it established the absolute correctness of prophetic interpretations and renewed and strengthened the FAITH of people from all denominations.

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit....

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “... And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.” Revelation 9:1-4

Fifth Trumpet Sounds And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 15 Fifth Trumpet Sounds And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth “How thou art fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How thou art cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations.” Isaiah 14:12

Fifth Trumpet Sounds And to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. KEY literally means power to open and shut; or power and authority of various kinds BOTTOMLESS PIT = immeasurable depth; vast wasteland; or the abode of demons

Fifth Trumpet Sounds And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace OPENED = had the power to let loose what was in the bottomless pit SMOKE = vapor; also something that obscures light or vision

Fifth Trumpet Sounds The sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. SUN = literally means light AIR = atmosphere, or that which is breathed in DARKENED = obscured, shrouded or hidden from view

Fifth Trumpet Sounds And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 20 Fifth Trumpet Sounds Most historians comment on the totally unforeseen nature of the rise of Islam. “Without warning, without apprehension, and without prediction, the Arab broke from the south and covered all of the Roman Empire south of the Taurus and extended from the Indus to the Atlantic.” Talcott Williams, Turkey, A World Problem, p. 54 Most historians comment on the totally unforeseen nature of the rise of Islam. “Without warning, without apprehension, and without prediction, the Arab broke from the south and covered all of the Roman Empire south of the Taurus and extended from the Indus to the Atlantic.” Talcott Williams, Turkey, A World Problem, p. 54

Near the end of the sixth century, there was born in Arabia and man who claimed direct descent from Ishmael, the son of Abraham. His name was Mohammed and he is the founder of a religion that today has more than a BILLION adherents world-wide.

“Over the last half-century, the Muslim population in the United States has risen significantly. Immigrants from the Middle East, South Asia and Africa have settled across the country, establishing mosques from Boston to Los Angeles, and turning Islam into one of the nation's fastest growing religions. By some estimates, as many as six million Muslims now live in America.” NY Times, March 5, 2006

Muslims worshipping before the Black Stone in Mecca

One month a year, Mohammed would retire to a cave a few miles from Mecca where he gave himself to fasting and prayer. While in this cave he received visions and when he returned to the town, he told his visions and had them written down (Mohammed could not read or write). Thus Mohammed called himself a “prophet of God.”

1. A true prophet never consults any occult source when seeking the “will of God” (Deuteronomy 18:19; occult source = fortune teller, astrologer, clairvoyant or psychic) 2. A true prophet always recognizes Jesus Christ as the divine Son of God who was incarnated into human flesh to die for the sins of the world (1 John 4:1-3) 3. A true prophet’s words will always be in perfect harmony with the words of the prophets who have preceded him (i.e. will have complete harmony with the Bible; Isaiah 8:20) 1. 26 1. A true prophet never consults any occult source when seeking the “will of God” (Deuteronomy 18:19; occult source = fortune teller, astrologer, clairvoyant or psychic) We are not told the source of Mohammed’s visions which he had while in the cave. He claimed that they were given by the angel Gabriel – the same angel who spoke to Daniel But the fact that his visions and the book which resulted from these visions (the Qur’an) are NOT in harmony with the rest of the Bible would indicate that his “source” was not the God of the Bible 1. 28 3. A true prophet’s words will always be in perfect harmony with the words of the prophets who have preceded him (i.e. will have complete harmony with the Bible; Isaiah 8:20) Mohammed’s words are NOT in perfect harmony with the Bible. They contradict the Bible in most places, principally by denying that Jesus is the Saviour of the world – that Jesus’ death was the eternal atonement for sin. And Mohammed CHANGED the day of worship from the seventh-day Sabbath to the sixth day (Friday) 3. 29 From the beginning Mohammed had asked his followers to do three things: pray, fast, and give alms. He used one rule of action in spreading his new religion. He said “Confess there is only one God, and that Mohammed is His prophet; pay tribute; or choose death.” From the beginning Mohammed had asked his followers to do three things: pray, fast, and give alms. 30 The simple faith and morally strict practices of Islam outwardly appear to be an improvement over the apostasy of the Christian church, then and now. But by rejecting Christ as Saviour, Mohammed had nothing in which to place his faith except his own ability to obtain “righteousness” by his own works.

It was his mission and the commission of every Moslem male to propagate the dominion of Islam by the sword. The duty of all “Mussulmans” was to destroy the temples of the infidels (apostate Christians), to overthrow to the remotest quarters of the world, with the ultimate goal of converting the entire world to Islam.

The rapid progress of Islam was due to the strife between the Byzantine empire based in Constantinople, and the modern Persian empire headed by a man named Chosroes. When Rome finally defeated Persia in A.D. 628, it opened the door for the swarms of Arabs to pour out of the “bottomless pit.” Persia had stood as a gate, keeping in check the advance of the power of Mohammed.

Fifth Trumpet Sounds And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth “Smoke” – we’ve already defined this symbol as something that obscures “ Locusts” – the locust is known as a destroyer of “every green thing” that it finds in its path; however in this prophecy John was told that these “locusts” would NOT eat or hurt any grass, tree, or any “green thing”

Fifth Trumpet Sounds As the scorpions of the earth have power “Scorpions” – root Greek word literally means to pierce or sting “The tail, therefore, of a scorpion, with the sting, denotes the propagation of the diabolical false prophecy of Mohammed... no nation before them relying on a similar imposture in religion, and under the pretext of destroying the worship of idols, ever contended for the empire of the world.” from the Clavius Apocalyptica

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “As the scorpions of the earth have power” “and there were stings in their tails” “As the scorpions of the earth have power” “and there were stings in their tails” Isaiah said: “The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail” Isaiah 9:15

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “Fruitlessly the Arabs assailed the Byzantine capital by land and sea for five whole years (A.D. 673 to 678): they did not succeed in taking it.” Charles Diehl, History of the Byzantine Empire, p. 44

We find a striking fulfillment of the prophecy of Revelation 9:4 in the command of ABU BEKR, who was Mohammed’s uncle

“When you fight your battles of the Lord, acquit yourselves like men, without turning your backs; let not your victory be stained with the blood of women or children. Destroy no palm trees, nor burn any fields of corn. Cut down no fruit trees, nor do any mischief to cattle, only such as you kill to eat.” Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

“As you advance into the enemy’s country, you will find a sort of men who belong to the synagogue of Satan, and who have shaven crowns. Cleave their skulls. Give them no quarter till they embrace our faith or pay tribute.” Israel Smith Clare, The Standard History of the World, vol. 4, p. 1814 “As you advance into the enemy’s country, you will find a sort of men who belong to the synagogue of Satan, and who have shaven crowns. Cleave their skulls. Give them no quarter till they embrace our faith or pay tribute.” Israel Smith Clare, The Standard History of the World, vol. 4, p. 1814

Fifth Trumpet Sounds “locusts... like unto horses” “faces of men” but like “hair of women” “crowns like gold” “teeth like lions” “locusts like horses prepared for battle” Revelation 9:7-9 “locusts... like unto horses” “faces of men” but like “hair of women” “crowns like gold” “teeth like lions” “locusts like horses prepared for battle” Revelation 9:7-9 In Revelation 9:7-11 we find a COMPARATIVE description and not a POSITIVE identification of what John saw passing before him. Therefore, he uses the qualifying statements, “LIKE UNTO”, “AS IT WERE,” and “LIKE.”

Fifth Trumpet Sounds Had a king who’s name was Abaddon (in Hebrew) and Apollyon (in Greek) Both of these names literally mean “destroyer” Mohammed’s name does not mean “destroyer,” but his work was destructive to the Byzantine Empire Had a king who’s name was Abaddon (in Hebrew) and Apollyon (in Greek) Both of these names literally mean “destroyer” Mohammed’s name does not mean “destroyer,” but his work was destructive to the Byzantine Empire

Remarkable Time Prophecy “And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man... their power was to hurt men five months.” Revelation 9:5, 10 “And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man... their power was to hurt men five months.” Revelation 9:5, 10

Remarkable Time Prophecy “And thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.” Ezekiel 4:6 “After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know My breach of promise.” Numbers 14:34

Remarkable Time Prophecy Prophetic year = 360 days or 360 literal years Prophetic month = 30 days or 30 literal calendar years Day = literal calendar year Hour = 1/24 part of a day, or 15 literal days (360/24 = 15) Prophetic year = 360 days or 360 literal years Prophetic month = 30 days or 30 literal calendar years Day = literal calendar year Hour = 1/24 part of a day, or 15 literal days (360/24 = 15) Five months = 5x30 = 150 literal years

Remarkable Time Prophecy This is one of the most remarkable prophecies in the entire Bible, it is so exact in its fulfillment. The prophecy was fulfilled beginning on July 27, 1299. Starting on this date and for the next 150 literal years, Islam “tormented” the Byzantine capital at Constantinople, but were not able to capture the city.

Remarkable Time Prophecy “It was on the twenty-seventh of July, in the year twelve hundred and ninety-nine of the Christian era, that Othman first invaded the territory of Nicomedia; and the singular accuracy of the dates seems to disclose some foresight of the rapid and destructive growth of the monster [Islam].” Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

Remarkable Time Prophecy John Palaeologus emperor of the Byzantine Empire died in 1448, and left behind him a throne that was weakened by the continual threats from Islam. With limited support from his European neighbors, it did not appear that the Byzantine empire would long survive his death.

Remarkable Time Prophecy When John died a dispute erupted between Constantine and Demetrios over the throne of the Byzantine Empire. Demetrios drew support through his opposition to the union between the Orthodox and Catholic churches. An appeal was made to the Ottoman Sultan Murad II to arbitrate the disagreement.

Remarkable Time Prophecy Murad chose Constantine, who was crowned at Mistra on January 6, 1449. It was unusual to crown an emperor outside of Constantinople (and without a Patriarch of the Orthodox Church), and no ecclesiastical coronation was ever performed.
