The standards and protocols used in mobile communication

802.11 Wi-Fi connection 802.11 Wi-Fi connection is a standard transfer speed faster than an internet connection. It allows you to browse and surf the internet for free anywhere you are if it is a free login or if you know the password to the Wi-Fi connection. When abroad it also makes your mobile calls to other places cheaper and you are able to surf the internet connection over there for free as well which is amazing technology.

IRDA Infrared. Infrared is almost the same as a Bluetooth connection. If you are wanting to transfer media files from phone to phone and don’t have Bluetooth on your mobile device then you can connect it that way but you have to hold your phones together instead of having them separated at a distance because the laser technology in the infrared is not supported for it to reach distances like it can on the Bluetooth technology. It does not have the supported system and un advanced programming on your device.

Wireless access protocols. In short mobile device terms it is called WAP. It is a wireless connectivity device on your phone allowing you to access the internet but on a very slow standard network. This would mainly be your network provider for example orange, T-Mobile and 02. The WAP connection has to go through a lot of different servers to receive and load the page you are wanting to access. But with technology today like a 3G connection it goes through just one server to deliver you the quickest time loading your page. Instead of waiting 5 minutes for a page to load you wait about 50 seconds.

SMS Protocols SMS instant messaging. Able to communicate to your friends through the mobile technology. This is done on a GSM quad band server so that you are able to send and receive international messages or even just sending messages in the UK. With Technology now you are able to send SMS messages to landline phone numbers to there answering machine. The GSM connection will go through the satellite dish reacting to everybody's internet connection sending the remote signals to that dish and then responds through an internet connection allowing the messages to be sent.
