Alberta Land Uses; History, Current Status, and Future Trends Regional Planning Provincial Land-use Secretariat –Support Cabinet Committee –Lead the development of regional plans Regional Advisory Councils –established for each region (short term) – will provide advice to the Regional plan development. –Members from interests in the region –(NE December 2008- January 2010), (South January 2009- March 2010)

Alberta Land Uses; History, Current Status, and Future Trends Carbon Capture Building a strategy (first in North America) –Create economic growth that is sustainable economically and environmentally –Requires large producers to reduce CO 2 –or pay into a fund to help technologies to further reduce CO 2 Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) –$2 Billion to kick start to reduce GHG through CCS projects
