4 Job or Career?  Job: A regular activity performed in exchange for payment. A position in which one is employed.  Career: A chosen pursuit. The general course or progression of one's working life or one's professional achievements.

25 But… whatever type of manager you are, you need a  Resume: a short document that provides potential employers with information about your specific qualifications for a job  Cover letter: brief introduction and emphasis on accomplishments or skills you possess that are relevant to the job  Resume and cover letter get you an interview

26 Types of Resumes  Chronological Resume: lists work experience and education in reverse order (most recent first)  Skills Resume: highlights abilities and accomplishments rather than your work experience; organize around strengths  Mixed Resume: a combo of one or more resume formats  Some companies ask you to create and submit resume online

27 Cover Letter  Introduce yourself  Convince them to meet you  Lets company know how you heard about the job, why you are the right person, and how to contact you
