Concepts and value of TI-Nspire™ Technology Module A

Lesson 4: Highlights in version 3.2 Concepts and value of TI-Nspire™ Technology

TI-Nspire™ Technology In this lesson you will: Get a summary of the TI-Nspire Technology. See the main new features of TI-Nspire Technology software version 3.2. Explore the math improvements. 3 | Lesson A.4

TI-Nspire Technology software There are three licensed software products: 4 | Lesson A.4 Student software Teacher software Navigator™ Teacher software Teacher software Navigator Teacher software Student software

5 | Lesson A.4 TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS Handhelds Clickpad handheldsTouchpad handheldsCX handhelds

Different applications in one learning environment 6 | Lesson A.4 Calculator application Graphs application Geometry application Lists & Spreadsheet application Data & Statistics application Notes application Vernier Dataquest application Question application (only in the Teacher software) Extra tools: Program editor, Script editor, …

PublishView A TI-Nspire Document. A PublishView Document. 7 | Lesson A.4 In the Student software as well as the Teacher software and Navigator Teacher software, you can design two types of documents: where you can integrate different TI-Nspire pages, rich text and hyperlinks, images and videos on one page.

8 | Lesson A.4 Math improvements in the 3.2 version Possibilities of implicit graphing; Graph, Trace and Zoom Improvements; Graph entry/edit changes; Angle mode display; The 3D parametric plot; Histograms with different bin widths.

Press-to-Test Restrictions Updates With the addition of implicit graphing and conic graphing in 3.2, additional restrictions need to be added within the Press-to-Test dialogs to support the use of our TI-Nspire technology for high level exams. 9 | Lesson A.4

10 | Lesson A.4 Other improvements in the 3.2 version Rich Text for TI-Nspire Notes; The Chem-Box; PublishView Improvements ; Offline/Installed Options for the Document Player; TI-Navigator improvements; New question types; TI-Nspire Development Kit/Scripting/Science; Press-to-Test Restrictions Updates.

TI-Nspire Document Player The latest version of the TI-Nspire Document Player will be available either online or offline. This allows schools, students and teachers with limited or no internet connection to use the Player. This will also be interesting for publishers to host the Player on their own servers. 11 | Lesson A.4

TI-Nspire Navigator Teacher software Teacher can set the location of the database in: A different local drive; A USB Flash drive; A networked drive. Allows the teacher to freely move from room to room. 12 | Lesson A.4

TI-Nspire Navigator Teacher software The next-generation access point will be Smaller than a smart phone; USB-powered; Allow 60 clients. 13 | Lesson A.4

TI-Nspire Teacher Software There are extra question types for images or science features: Image question; Expression question; Chemistry question. 14 | Lesson A.4

TI-Nspire Development Kit/Scripting/Science Programming environment to create Lua script applications, it will also integrate the Chipmunk Physics Engine. Designed for Teachers who are familiar with programming, it will build a foundation for future visual programming. Available only in TI-Nspire software. 15 | Lesson A.4

16 | Lesson A.4 In this lesson you learned that… In the Graphs & Geometry application the “equation”-entry is added to make graphs, based on an implicit equation. This creates a lot of possibilities to study lines and conics; The Zoom-Fit feature keeps the x-values of the window settings; The entry-line of the Graphs & Geometry application is simplified; The angle mode display on the handheld is improved; The 3D-Graphing is expanded with a parametric plot; In the Notes application you have a toolbar to change the font format and you can use the Chem-box to insert chemical formulas; In the Data & Statistics application you can create histograms with different bin widths; The Press-to-Test restrictions are adjusted to these improvements;

17 | Lesson A.4 In this lesson you learned that… The TI-Nspire Document Player will be available offline; In the TI-Nspire Navigator Teacher software it is possible to change the database-location; The Navigator Access Point will become smaller and USB-powered; The Teacher software contains different new question types, especially for science questions and use of images; The use of Lua Scripting in TI-Nspire Technology will create huge possibilities to create animations for science education.
