VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION – OFFICE OF RURAL HEALTH THE VETERANS ACCESS, CHOICE, AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 2014 PUBLIC LAW 113-146 President Obama signed this legislation into law on August 7 Implementation goal: 90 days (early November) As with our rural health initiatives, this is intended to help improve access to care. $5 billion to hire physicians and other medical staff and improve VA’ s infrastructure $10 billion to fund additional purchased care while we build the internal capability to meet current demand. VA to secure leases at 27 major facilities for more clinical space Streamlines administrative removal process for senior executives 9
