Eligibility for Sports Requires Paper Work Completed on Time Blue Forms, Job Descriptions, ES&P –DCU or NCU Athletics Monitors Your Search If you are NOT Placed after B round –NCAA Eligibility Issue –Keep a job search journal –Weekly Report to justify “active status” of search while competing or NO competition

Fall Sports: Pre-Season & Coop You MUST Explain Spring and Pre-Season Sport/Training Requirements to Employers During Interview & Again At Job Acceptance. –Factor in your commute and any required overtime. –Factor in Lifting Requirements & Getting There On Time You MUST Document & Submit Your Plan for Sport/Coop Prior to First Day & Have Coach & Employer Sign Off – Kept with Coop Coordinator (NEW) Written Notification Sent from SCDC to Your Employer About Sports Requirements after you accept the position

Before You Accept A Job Negotiate August Pre-Season Hours –Adapt Work Schedule –Time Off Without Pay –Part-Time or Flex Time Plan for Housing Submit the Plan for Sport/Coop to your Coop Coordinator

Spring Sports & Spring Co-Op No-Op is NOT an Option While In Season –Temping, Interning, Community Service or Coop Required to Discuss With COOP Advisor (mtg) You MUST Explain In Season Requirements to Employers During Interview & At Job Acceptance Plan for Housing and Commute Documented Good Faith Effort –Required for NCAA Eligibility

If you are training or playing while on coop in any capacity … Submit a Sport/Coop Plan (NEW) –Fill out the paper work, have coach & employer sign and submit it to your coop employer (Coach and employer signs off on the plan for in-season and preseason) –This ensures that employers and coaches understand and agree with your expectations, requirements and deliverables in both work and sport (no gray area and no changing the plan that was agreed on during the interview) Negotiate Work Hours in Your Agreement –Adapt Traditional Work Schedule –Time Off Without Pay –Part-Time or Flex Time

After You Accept a Job… Written Notification is sent to every employer from SCDC –That You are a Student-Athlete –A Sport/Coop Plan is Expected to be Set up and it is OK with Coach and Your Employer –Make Sure you have Notified Your Employer Before this is Mailed

If You Are Not Placed Prove That You Made A Good Faith Effort You Must Meet Your Coop Coordinator Submit Update of Job Search Activity –Weekly – Friday at Noon Document / Job Search Journal Or….You Don’t Play…

International Students Must select a coop job that is specifically related their major/career path Must have their job approved by coop prior to starting Must have ISSS approve their job prior to starting & document your start/end date Make sure your I-20 is up to date with ISSS
