Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools On the first day of school 2013 at our middle and high schools: the Internet will be open to all privately owned devices for instructional use in the classroom and with teacher permission.

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Acceptable Devices include: Laptops and/ or iPads Netbooks and/or Tablets Cell Phones and/or Smart Phones iPod Touch eReaders, etc. Devices that are used as web servers are not allowed.

Collaborate online Other ways in which your teacher may allow

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Safety and Security All devices will be subject to Internet filtering. Students assume total responsibility for their devices.

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations Their own technology Connecting to the network Keeping their technology safe and secure. Students are responsible for :

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations Students will be expected to: arrive at school with the WiFi on their technology turned to the OFF mode. Battery life will be extended when devices only scan for WiFi when needed.

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations Students will not activate or connect to a Hot Spot or any ad-hoc network at school! Students must follow policy guidelines.

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations Student-owned devices may only: Connect to the SCPS guest network via WiFi. No cabled connection is permitted. No other WiFi connection is permitted while at school, (i.e. 3G wireless).

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations All personal information should be removed from personal devices and/or laptops prior to bringing them to school. Devices are subject to search if: there is suspicion of wrong doing.

Bring Your Own Technology Stafford County Public Schools Student Expectations Under no circumstances will: A student use another student’s technology without permission. Students will respect the property of others.
