10 RESPONSIBLE FOR: Responsible for the effective coordination of youth outreach programs and services and involvement in all HYS services and activities Supporting a participative and team focussed service and participating in cooperative service and team planning

11 OBJECTIVES To participate in and build a strong teamwork environment and a focus on participation by young people, staff, volunteers, other stakeholders and the community To coordinate effective youth outreach services and other support services, activities and programs for young people in the area

15 Strategic Planning Participate in Strategic Planning process for HYS Participate in the implementation of the Strategic Plan. Service planning and management Participate in regular service planning in all program areas, in conjunction with the Manager and other service staff through staff meetings Prepare reports and key data on program performance and reports to funding bodies

16 Financial Management and Growth In conjunction with other staff and the MC, identifying funding opportunities and opportunities to develop or expand HYS’s programs and services in response to needs Work with Manager to prepare funding applications for new and existing services and programs Work with Manager to provide input to budget preparation and planning and review budgets prior to presentation to the Board Approve expenditure within delegations from the Board

17 People Management Provide day to day support and direction for assistant youth workers working in HYS programs.

18 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Responsible for reading, understanding and abiding by the organisation’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy Take reasonable care of the health and safety of self and others, co-operate with the Board of Directors in its efforts to comply with OH&S requirements. Act and consult with other staff to ensure health, safety and welfare at work, provide and maintain safe places of work, equipment and systems of work under the OH&S Act. Not interfere with, or misuse, items provided for the health, safety or welfare of persons at work; obstruct attempts to prevent a serious risk to the health and safety of a person at work; refuse a reasonable request to assist in giving aid or preventing a risk to health and safety.

19 External relationships for HYS Participate in networking with relevant external agencies and groups as part of a coordinated approach within HYS Identify opportunities for HYS to work in partnership with other agencies and services and work with other agencies to develop and implement these partnerships Participate in a coordinated approach across the organisation to organisational and service promotion

20 Professional Development Participate in regular supervision and support with Manager as needed or with peer support Participate in professional development and training. Other duties as required by the Manager

21 REVIEW All staff members are employed subject to a three month probationary period. Staff will be appointed permanently only after this review. HYS reviews all job descriptions regularly and carries out a Performance Appraisal after six months employment, and then annually for all permanent staff.
