What Are the A-G and Graduation Requirements? (A) History/Social Science (A) History/Social Science (B) English (B) English (C) Mathematics (C) Mathematics (D) Lab Science (D) Lab Science (E) Language Other (E) Language Other than English than English (F) Visual & Performing Arts (F) Visual & Performing Arts (G) College Prep Elective (G) College Prep Elective Students MUST complete all these requirements with a minimum “C” or better for college and “D” for high school credit.

A-G Requirements Mathematics “C” Requirement High School Graduation: (20 credits) Algebra 1 Geometry College requirement: MINIMUM OF Algebra 2 More math recommended

A-G Requirements Science “D” Requirement High School Graduation: (20 credits) Physical Science (10 Credits) Biological Science (10 Credits) College Requirement: Biology (1 year) Chemistry (1 year) More science recommended

A-G Requirements Visual/Performing Arts “F” Requirement High School Graduation: (10 credits) One year of the same class taken consecutively Students have Music, Drama and Arts options to choose from. Will meet beyond minimum requirement since a Performing Arts class will be taken every year.

A-G Requirements: Language Other Than English “G” Requirement High School Graduation: None College Requirement: AT LEAST two years of the same language Spanish and French are offered at Hamilton. With counselor approval, other languages such as American Sign Language, Hebrew, German, etc. can be taken in an outside program for credit.

A-G Requirements Electives High School Graduation: 70 Credits College Requirement: 1 year of college preparatory electives Examples: InterCoord Sci AB AP Human Geography AP Environmental Science

Additional High School Graduation Requirements Physical Education 20 Credits Dance, Sports, or Marching Band can also fulfill Physical Education requirements. Applied Technology 10 Credits Health Passing CAHSEE Exit exam in English and Math. Students will take in 10 th grade until passed. 10 CREDITS H EALTH P ASSING CAHSEE ( EXIT EXAM IN E NGLISH AND M ATH ). S TUDENTS WILL TAKE EXAM IN 10 TH GRADE.

9 th Grade Plan Regular or Honors English 9 Depending on middle school grades, InterCoord. Science or Biology Performing Arts/Music Health/Music Health is a 1 semester class. Half the students will start in Health and the other half will start with Music. In spring, classes alternate. Foreign Language Physical Education/Dance/ Sport/Marching Band Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra 2)

More information on 9 th grade Math Students should have a B or better in middle school to move on to the next level of Math in 9 th grade. For example, students who received a C in Algebra 1 or Geometry in middle school are strongly encouraged to retake the course in 9 th grade. Students who are having difficulty in Algebra/Algebra Readiness as demonstrated by middle school grades and low standardized test scores will be taking an additional period of math called Math Tutorial along with Algebra 1.

12 th Grade Plan Regular, Honors, or AP English Literature Regular, Honors or AP Government/ Economics Advanced level science course recommended (Physics, Marine Biology, Physiology) Advanced level math course recommended (Math Analysis, AP Calculus, AP Statistics) Performing Arts/Music Performing Arts/Music or Applied Technology if not fulfilled Optional elective- Seniors only need 6 classes, 7 th class is optional senior year.
