BISD is rated overall Recognized for Community and Student Engagement* Aiken is an overall Recognized Campus under House Bill 5 Community and Student Engagement * House Bill 5, Section 46; Texas Education Code Section

2 Fine Arts Program rated Exemplary
Aiken Elementary offers Guitar club, Art Club, Honors choir as extensions to the Art and Music classes offered during the day. Reader’s theaters, holiday programs and exhibits, along with interdisciplinary studies such as civic engagement, allows for further competition in Fine Arts programs. Aiken Elementary

3 Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Recognized
100% of the campus participates in Red Ribbon activities. CATCH Program is used and all students participate in FitnessGram testing. P.E. extends their activities to include Jump rope for heart, Flag Football, Turkey Trot, Sombrero Race and the Annual Breast Cancer awareness walk. Aiken Elementary

Aiken Parents are highly encouraged to attend information sessions to help us prepare their child for state assessments. Aiken Parents are active members of our school community and often participate in Reading programs that extend outside of the classes for further enrichment. Aiken Elementary

5 21st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary
Aiken Elementary participates in College Awareness days colleges are introduced weekly so that students are informed of higher education settings. The campus hosts a career and college day where members of the community continue to support the partnership of businesses in education. Aiken Elementary

6 Dropout prevention Strategies rated Exemplary
Aiken Elementary continuously monitors attendance daily. We encourage our students to attend class every day using BISD’s attendance initiative and innovative ways using current events. We also offer accelerated instruction after school and several Saturdays throughout the year to assist students with further instruction. Aiken Elementary

7 Second Language Acquisition rated Recognized
ELL students are provided with multiple cultural awareness experiences such as El Dia del muerto, Charro Days, Cinco De Mayo, Chinese New Year and Dia Del Nino. Aiken has a bilingual program that offers tools to teachers to assist in the development of English language listening, Speaking, reading and writing. Aiken Elementary

8 Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized
Aiken Elementary is aimed at supporting technology integration in instruction. Campus staff uses technology as a tool to supplement instruction with istation, Think Through Math, Tango, Calculators, Living with Science Etc. Digital communication is always available via campus website and . Aiken Elementary

9 Gifted and Talented Program rated Recognized
Aiken identifies G/T students in Grades for differentiated instruction. These students participate in Science Fair, UIL, Destination Imagination and Chess. For the school year, Aiken’s Destination Imagination team placed 3rd at State and then proceeded to Globals in Tennessee. Aiken Elementary
