4 Stronger Economies Together (SET) SET is a multi-county regional development planning process funded by USDA and facilitated by OCES. Regions are provided with detailed industry and demographic data to inform the construction of an development plan that crosses county boundaries.

5 SET (cont’d.) Western I-40 Region has had their plan reviewed and are revising; once complete, they should qualify for an implementation seed grant Kiamichi Region has formed taskforces to focus on their 3 goals: education & workforce development, agriculture, and tourism Route 66 Community Partners is drafting goals South Central Oklahoma is evaluating cluster data Phase V is likely to be announced in Fall 2014!

6 Retail Trade Analysis Continues to be one of the more popular programs By analyzing sales tax data, communities can: – Evaluate/track retail sales by sector – Compare retail sales to other communities – Identify strong and weak sectors – Recognize opportunities for new retail businesses In 2013, OTC changed systems, so that data now available by NAICS – created a break in the data series; trying to overcome this

8 On the Horizon Farmers’ Market Manager Training – Responding to district PACs, Susan Moffat and Dave Shideler will be looking to develop this for use prior to next year’s market season Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing – Provides a neutral look at the costs and benefits of hydraulic fracturing, including an overview of the technology, community and housing issues, drilling mud, leases and other legal issues, and policy options – 3 meeting series will be piloted in Stillwater (May 29, June 5, June 12)

9 On the Horizon Economic Contribution of Agriculture – Continue to monitor drought impacts – Working with NASS to update 2011 study; to be completed for the 2015 Legislative Session
