Summary of current Oregon metadata standard Oregon’s metadata standard presented at the very first standards forum, December, 2002 Based on FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata, with a minimum mandatory elements list Never adequately finalized or documented The desire was to clarify the metadata standard and run it through current process Consider adopting ISO 19115-19139 standard

Workgroup’s approach to amending standard The metadata workgroup reconvened in April, 2014, met six times Considered ISO 191* standard adoption, decided to stay with a subset of FGDC elements for now – revisit ISO later Reviewed entire FGDC CSDGM standard and designated elements: ◦mandatory ◦mandatory if applicable ◦optional, but recommended ◦all others remain optional Metadata standard applies to state agency GIS data intended for external distribution Metadata standard document edited to match current template design Draft amended metadata standard 45 day review period ended March 16 th
