NOAA’s CENTER for OPERATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC PRODUCTS and SERVICES Official memo between CO-OPS and NHC went out July 6 th, 2010. Outlined potential joint partnership opportunities for the improvement of storm surge related products Integration of CO-OPS data with the SLOSH model Reciprocal points of contact during hurricane season to support the NHC Storm Surge Unit, WFO’s and CO-OPS QuickLook team operations. Delivery of preliminary water level and meteorological data following landfall or near-landfall of a tropical cyclone along the U.S. coast CO-OPS participation on the Storm Surge Transition Team Development of a short-term anomalous water level product for a variety of applications, including SLOSH model initialization (in progress) NWS CO-OPS Partnership

NOAA’s CENTER for OPERATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC PRODUCTS and SERVICES Quality controlled water level data from 200+ CO-OPS and partnership stations Data updated every 6 minutes in near-real time Meteorological data where available High water advisory Stations are highlighted on the Tides Online front page when water levels exceed 1.5 feet above predictions http://tidesonline.nos.noaa.gov/ Additional Resources: Tides Online

NOAA’s CENTER for OPERATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC PRODUCTS and SERVICES Overall Goal - Provide predictions through electronic means certified to meet USCG regulations Expands CO-OPS’ prediction capabilities using more accurate harmonic methods Predictions for 375 harmonic stations (accepted constituents and datums) and an additional 2497 subordinate stations (using offsets) available Will permanently replace traditional high/low predictions on CO-OPS websites in 2012, which only lists predictions in feet above Mean Lower Low Water and times in LST/LDT.
