5 Why we love Australia! We love Australia because it is one of the richest, happiest and one of the most luckiest countries in the world! We also love Australia because we have beautiful beaches!

6 History The first official celebrations were held in 1818 and was called “Foundation Day” and some states later called it “Anniversary Day.” It was not until 1946 that all states and territories adopted the name of “Australia Day.” It was not until 1994 that Australia Day was to be celebrated on the 26 January, as some states would leave it till the weekend to celebrate. 8 The ceremonies Australia day ceremonies represent the day the first fleet landed at Sydney Cove and Captain Arthur Phillip take ‘formal possession’ of the Colony of New South Wales. In 2004, over 7.5 million people attended Australia day celebration.
