2
What is remote server? Remote means having some or much distance between two things. Server is service in network which manages the centralized resources. So remote server means computer not attached to users but still user has some degree of control over computer, it can be near or in different parts of the world. eITnotes.com
3
Cloud Computing is …. the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer. eITnotes.com

5
Advantages Flexibility: when we need more bandwidth than usual, a cloud based service can instantly meet the demand because of vast capacity of services remote servers. Automatic software updates: the cloud computing suppliers just maintain the server, thus saving time. Increased collaboration: helps to sync up and work on any document and shared apps simultaneously. eITnotes.com
6
Advantages Work from anywhere: as long as we have internet, we can work from anywhere around the globe. Document control: it keeps all the files in one central location, we can make changes to one central file while having chat simultaneously. eITnotes.com
7
Disadvantages Weak links: while an internet outage or problems with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is rare, you may not be able to access and do your work. Server down: sometimes the site you access has some problems. This is because some sites host more than one applications due to which the servers get lots of load, and hence leads to server down. eITnotes.com

Cloud components There are three main components: Clients
The data center The distributed servers Each element has a purpose and plays an important role in cloud computing. eITnotes.com

12
Client We can say clients are the daily bases Local Area Network (LAN). They are the computers that just sit on your desk. More specifically, clients are the devices that the end users interact with to manage their information on the cloud. Generally they fall in three categories. Mobile, thin and thick. eITnotes.com
13
Lets explain these points:
Client: mobile devices include smart phones. Thin: these type of clients don’t have internal hard disk. Thick: this type of client is a regular computer using a web browser to connect to the cloud. Thin clients are becoming a popular solution because of their price and environment eITnotes.com
14
Datacenter Datacenter is collection of servers where the application to which you subscribe is housed. It could be a large room in the basement of your building or a room full of servers on the other side of the world that you access via internet. Note: the number of virtual servers that can exist on the physical server depends on the size and speed of physical server. eITnotes.com
15
Distributed servers Servers need not to be housed in same location. Often servers are in geographically disparate locations. But to you, these servers act as if they are humming around each other. This gives the service provider more flexibility and security. For example Google has its servers all around the world. When we type we get connected to the server established in India. eITnotes.com

Services The term services in cloud computing is the concept of being able to use reusable, fine-grained components across the vendors network. This is widely known as “as a service”. There are three types of services: Software as a service Platform as a service Hardware as a service eITnotes.com
17
Software Software as a Service (SaaS) is the model in which application is hosted as a service to the customers who access it via internet. When the software is hosted offsite the customer does not have to maintain it or support it. On the other hand it is out of customers hands when the hosting service decides to change. The idea is a that you use the software out of the box as is and need not to make lot of changes. eITnotes.com

Platform as a service Following the heels of SaaS, then comes the Platform as a Service (PaaS). It supplies all the resources required to build applications and service completely from internet. Without having to download or install the software. PaaS services include application design, development, testing, development and hosting. PaaS generally offers some support to help the creation of user interfaces and is normally based on HTML and Javascript. eITnotes.com

Hardware as a Service It is also known as infrastructure as a service (IaaS). It simply offers the hardware so that organization can put whatever they want onto it. HaaS allows you to rent such resources: Server space Network equipment Memory CPU cycle Storage space eITnotes.com

Cloud storage providers
There are many cloud service providers today. The most important service provided by them is concerned with storage. Below are the names of popular cloud service providers: Google Microsoft Apple (icloud) eITnotes.com
23
How to use these? Firstly you need a address registered on any providers such as Gmail, yahoo mail, outlook etc. Then you open any storage provider site. Example Now u will be asked to sign in using your ID and password Then download and install the software onto PC or any device. You are good to go. eITnotes.com
24
Lets talk about front end and back end
eITnotes.com
25
Front end Front end is used for collecting input in various forms from the user and processing it to conform to a specification the back end can use. The front end is the interface between user and the back end. The front and back ends may be distributed amongst one or more systems. eITnotes.com
26
Continues… In software design, for example, the model view controller architecture, provides front and back ends for the database, the user and the data processing components. In terms of internet, front end will be browser as it act as an interface between the user and the server, and the back end will be the server which will process the request and then will send the page back to client. eITnotes.com
27
Back end Back end is used to collect the data coming from the user or client which is known as requests. Then these data are processed and after processing the data the server (back end) retransmit the request back to the client through front end (browser). Back end or server can be located anywhere around the globe. eITnotes.com
