FAQ What is CIT? Computer and Information Technology (CIT) is the application of business knowledge, management skills and information technology to meet a business’s information needs. CIT majors apply their abilities to develop and manage programs and applications, analyze existing systems to fix problems in order to meet their business’s goals all the while keeping on eye where new technologies will take their business in the future. FAQ What is the difference between Computer Science (CS) and CIT? Computer Science (CS) is the study of the theory and practices of using mathematics and computer technology in applications for the development of software engineering and computer architecture. CIT is the study of applying computer technologies, hardware, and software applications in the creation of business capabilities. CS tends to lean more towards the technical aspects while CIT focuses more on the business applications.

FAQ I’m not very good in math, but I love to create websites and I’m interested in programming for games. Do I need to be good in math to do well in the CIT program? No, depending on your test scores, College Algebra and Business Calculus as well as some of the required College of Business Core Courses, such as Principles of Accounting and Business Statistics are the only math based courses you will have to complete. While the degree program only requires a few math based courses, what we really want to see is that you can understand how to critically analyze and logical solve the problems that will be presented to you in class. Also, we want to know that you can pay close attention to detail when solving problems in order to avoid careless mistakes or find and correct your mistakes easily when you do find them and understand why it was wrong.
